T’rumah for Troops

“The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Tell the Israelite people to bring Me gifts; you shall accept gifts for Me from every person whose heart so moves him. … And let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.’”
As contemporary/modern Jews, we make God’s sanctuary in our hearts, carrying God with us wherever we go. But when we are far from home, far from community, and far from the traditions of our faith, it can be hard to feel that sanctuary, to feel the presence of God. We no longer take gifts to the tabernacle, but we can be the gifts we used to bring. Beth Torah is working with Koshertroops to build gift bags for soldiers. Each holiday bag we send to an American Jewish soldier helps that individual build and maintain sanctuary wherever they are.
As Jews, we place an emphasis on social justice. As members of Beth Torah, we embrace the concepts of Tikkun Olam, Tzedakah, and Gemilut Chasadim as pillars that hold up the platform of social justice, and are committed to turning ideas and philosophies into action. We seek to illuminate where there is need. We energize and inspire each other into action. When we respond, we connect.

We believe everyone should be afforded the opportunity and privilege to worship as they wish. Your participation with T’rumah for Troops helps to make sure our Jewish US troops stationed abroad have what they need to do that.
