In May we had fourteen Beth Torah members graduate from the community-wide Florence Melton Adult Mini School. Now we are ready to begin another four-year course of study with new students excited about a pluralistic, in-depth, text-based study of Jewish history, ethics and life. The class at Beth Torah will meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00-11:00 a.m., mostly aligned with the Sunday school schedule. Registration is a must for this invaluable learning opportunity.
Our 2010 graduates will happily answer your questions and share their experiences, or you may contact Jeff Goldenberg, JCC Director of Adult Education at 913 327 4647 or jeffg@jewishkc.org. The cost is $265 for the full year of learning, including texts. There are also 2-year courses offered at other times at the JCC.

In the Bride’s Room
Join our ongoing Talmud discussion group for a midweek lunch and learn. We promise to engage you in rabbinic thought combined with modern sensibilities. Participants read aloud from the Shottenstein translation of the Talmud (Artscroll), taking time to discuss and question along the way. There isn’t any homework, no prior knowledge is necessary, and you will be amazed, impressed, and excited by how quickly your understanding of Talmud begins to develop as you explore this critical text with new friends.

Every first Sunday Funday of the month we will add lox to the mix! Beth Torah will offer a play rug, toys and books for family fun and games, and we will have The Kansas City Star, The New York Times and The Pitch. If you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house, have some breakfast AND make new friends or catch up with old ones, then Beth Torah is your Sunday morning spot.
